Gratitudes and Celebrations
How often do you find yourself in the middle of a
perfect day and suddenly you become irritated by
the slightest little thing?
Perhaps a driver cut you
off and you need to slam on your brakes. Your
partner snips at you for seemingly no reason. Your
inbox may be filled with tons of spam and nothing
worth reading.
That one little thing shifts your whole
mindset into negativity and you begin to feel as if
there is nothing that is okay in your life.
Try to Refocus
The next time this
happens, stop focusing on the
complaint and think about all that you have that
makes you feel grateful. It could be your friends or
family or just the beauty of the day. You may find
your attitude shifting and the grumble disappearing.
My Celebration and Gratitude Habit
For the past two years, I have exchanged a
celebration email with a good friend of mine. We
focus on what is working in our lives, what
accomplishments we are celebrating and why we are
grateful for this day.
Some days, admittedly, it is
difficult to focus on the good because I would prefer
to sulk in the gripes of my life. Other days, the
gratitudes and celebrations just roll off my fingers
onto the page.
But no matter how I am feeling when
I begin to write them down, I always feel better
when I have finished listing my positive
thoughts.
Live Joyfully
It is said, that what you put out into the world is
what you get back from the world. If I want
happiness in my life, then I must give out happiness.
If I want life to be good and positive and full of
celebration, then I must live that life. I choose
the way of joyful living. |
I Like Me!
Become grateful for who you are and who you
are becoming in life. Begin celebrating your personal
magnificence today.
Here is an easy exercise to help you learn how to be
grateful for who you are and to celebrate all of you.
Okay, it may not be easy but
go ahead, and try this for at least one week. The
more you participate in this activity, the easier it
becomes and the happier you will feel. I guarantee
this will work!
Begin Right Now
Starting today, write down at least five things that
you like about yourself. Think about the way you
look, your ways of being and traits that make you
unique. If you are having a tough time with this, ask
others what they like about you and write those
down.
Believe it
Read the list out loud at least five times today. Read
the list with pride and the belief what you wrote is
the truth. Celebrate these five special gifts that you
offer the world. Smile all the way from your toes to
the tip of your head as you think about the words
you have written.
Add More
Each day, for one week, add five more things that
you like about yourself. Each time you add to the
list, read the entire list out loud, with pleasure and
delight, at least five times a day. Take the time to
love yourself the way you love others. Admire
yourself for who you are and become your own best
friend. Be grateful for your gifts and celebrate
yourself.

Create a Habit of Celebration and Gratitude
Looking for more ideas?
Here are a few more suggestions for incorporating a
habit of gratitude and celebration into your daily life.
Create an Appreciation Board
Use a wipe off board or a bulletin board and post
your appreciations for every member in your
household or office. Encourage everyone to add to
the list everyday. Review the list at the end of the
day and watch your upsets dissipate as you read
through how much you have in your life that is
wonderful.
Send a Thank You Card Each Day
Make a point of finding one person each day to
thank. Send that person a thank you note letting
her know how grateful you feel for having her in your
life. Thanking a store clerk for helping you find the
jelly could bring a smile that might last a whole day.
Smile Big
Is it possible to smile on the inside? Try on a smile.
Smile for no reason at all or, better yet, try to smile
while thinking about what you have that is simply
wonderful in your life. Keep smiling, bigger now.
Pretty soon, you will feel your whole body smiling; a
great big inner smile that warms you to your bones.
Try it on while other people are around and notice
how contagious a smile can become.
Create a Morning or Evening Gratitude Ritual
Each morning or each evening, journal or speak your
gratitudes. Keep them to yourself or share them with a friend. Start
the day out celebrating everything you have and
watch your world brighten up.
A day filled with gratitude and celebration is a
great day. |
